Advisory:
The American College Health Association recommends,
and New Mexico State University requires, international
students to undergo TB screening if coming
from a high-risk country. All countries in
the African, Eastern Mediterranean, and Southeast
Asian regions, plus Russia and Mexico, are
considered high risk. (Exempted countries are
Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland,
UK, and most other Western European countries.)
Exchange students required to be screened will
have to pay any cost related to this procedure
(free testing on designated days is provided
in the Student Health Center, or students can
pay $10 for the test; if a follow up xray is
required because of a positive test result,
the cost would be about $75). The only TB tests
accepted are those conducted in the U.S.
