- SEVENTY STUDENTS RECEIVED AWARDS IN 2006-2007, AND ALREADY 57 FOR 2007-2008!!!!!
 Are scholarships available for study abroad?
Yes. But students will need to apply early for these and they are competitive. Students who apply successfully for international awards plan early, consult with faculty advisors about their plans and proposals, revise their applications carefully, choose quality study programs abroad, and have high second language skills if required. To keep posted on new scholarship opportunties, subscribe to stdyabrd, a listserve service managed by the NMSU Office of Study Abroad.
What types of scholarships are coordinated through the Office of Study Abroad?
Scholarships for:
• NMSU sponsored and other Language Study Programs
Gilman Awards for Pell Grant Recipients
Country & Regional Specific Awards: Australia, Asia, Canada, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Latin America
• Awards for Multiple Programs & Countries
• Awards Provided by Affiliated Programs
 Are NMSU students successful in obtaining study abroad scholarships?
Yes. Many students have received scholarships to study abroad. Contact the Assistant Dean for Study Abroad (646-5107 for an appointment) to discuss the scholarship opportunties listed below that many NMSU students have competed for successfully. Students who have been most successful IN obtaining scholarships that require essays have consulted with the Assistant Dean of Study Abroad, who will review essays before STUDENTS submit them to award sponsors. SOME AWARDS, SUCH AS GILMAN AND FREEMAN, REQUIRE ENDORSEMENT OF THE ASSISTANT DEAN, WHO WILL ONLY ENDORSE APPLICANTS WHO HAVE DISCUSSED THEIR PROGRAM AND PROPOSED ESSAY WITH HIM.
