The
following information is provided as a guide.
Applications to Texas Tech are subject to review
and approval by the Office of Study Abroad
and an advertised program may be unavailable
due to imbalances in the exchange or for other
unforeseen circumstances. Program costs are
subject to change.

Intensive
beginning and intermediate Spanish, History
of Spain, and Spanish independent Studies and
Internship offered regularly. Other courses
are offered depending on the professors selected
to lead the program.

| Eligibility |
GPA
of 2.5 or higher with junior standing preferred. Program
is conducted in Spanish and English.

to NMSU |
$300
program fee, $30 BETA insurance, visa processing
fee ($150 if NMSU represents at Houston consulate). |

to TT |
Cost
of all program arrangements organized by TT (about
$6,200 for instruction, housing, meals, insurance,
excursions). Program fee due before departure.

| Student
Visa |
The
Spanish Government requires U.S. students to
present their application in person (or to have
an NMSU representative present it ). New Mexico
State University students must use the Houston
Consulate. Applies to students
studying more than 90 days only.

| Insurance |
Students
pay Texas Tech $125 for full medical coverage
in Spain. NMSU only requires students to take
BETA to cover medical evacuation and some medical
expenses when traveling outside Spain.

| Scholarships |
Students
should apply for local, federal and private scholarships.
The IFSA scholarship may
be used for study on exchange at TEC . Students
with Pell grants should apply for Gilman awards
(up to $5,000) for study abroad.

| Withdrawal
Penalties |
Students
who have accepted the TT placement then
withdraw will be charged $200 by
NMSU to recover its administrative expenses. Students
who accept an academic year placement may have
to pay the entire cost of the program if they
withdraw early. Other TT penalties for
unrecoverable costs may apply for early withdrawal
after accepting placement.
