INTERNSHIP QUICK LIST
The following information is provided as a guide. Placement in a program is subject to approval by the Office of Study Abroad and the sponsoring academic department. Belize Ministry of Education Internship*
NMSU has a graduate internship with the Belize Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Students serve in internship positions doing professional activities that assist the Ministry to develop education in the country. This is a good program for independent spirited students who want a multicultural experience and want a professional international experience.
Belize ESL Internship
NMSU has had a graduate internship with the University of Belize's Regional Language Center in Belmopan, the capital of Belize. Students serve in ESL instructor positions. This is a good program for independent spirited students who want a multicultural experience and want to learn to teach in an international environment.
Student Teaching-Belize
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers student teaching options through a cooperative arrangement with Muffles Community College, Orange Walk, Belize. Students can do their student teaching to meet NM Licensure requirements in elementary or secondary schools in Orange Walk, or at Muffles Community College.
Student Teaching- COSTA RICA
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers student teaching options in various locations in Costa Rica in cooperation with the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. Students can do their student teaching to meet NM Licensure requirements in elementary or secondary schools in Costa Rica. Students should have good Spanish language skills, even though they may teach in English..
Student Teaching- MEXICO
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers student teaching options in various locations in Mexico. Students can do their student teaching to meet NM Licensure requirements in elementary or secondary schools in northern Mexico.
