Applications to UPO are subject to review and
approval by the Office of Study Abroad and
an advertised program may be unavailable due
to imbalances in the exchange or for other
unforeseen circumstances. Program costs are
subject to change.

UPO's Hispanic
Studies Program allows students to learn Spanish
at any level plus enroll in courses in History
or Art, Biology, Business, Economics, History
and Spanish Culture in English. Students with
advanced Spanish skills may enroll in the University
Integration Program. Students may also study
at the Carmona Branch, which
is ideal for students who want to pursue special
topics during the semester (including graduate
study). UPO ALSO HAS A FEE PAYING SUMMER PROGRAM
WITH THE COST DISCOUNTED FOR NMSU STUDENTS.

UPO: Fall (August) May 4 and Spring (January) October
27. NMSU's
priority administrative deadline is May 1 for
Fall and October 15 for Spring, after which late
processing fees apply. |

tuition per semester ($2,226), program fee
per semester ($200), HTH insurance ($36 per
month), visa processing fee ($150 if NMSU represents
at Houston consulate).

| Student
Visa |
The
Spanish Government requires U.S. students to
present their application in person (or to have
an NMSU representative present it ). New Mexico
State University students must use the Houston
Consulate. Applies to students
studying more than 90 days only.

| Scholarships |
Students
should apply for local, federal and privale scholarships.
The IFSA scholarship may
be used for study on exchange at UPO. Students
with Pell grants should apply for Gilman awards
(up to $5,000) for study abroad.

| Withdrawal
Penalties |
Students
who have accepted the UPO placement then
withdraw will be charged $200 by
NMSU to recover its administrative expenses. Students
who accept an academic year placement may have
to pay the entire cost of the program if they
withdraw early. Other UPO penalties for
unrecoverable costs may apply for early withdrawal
after accepting placement.
