Applications to Swinburne are subject to review
and approval by the Office of Study Abroad
and an advertised program may be unavailable
due to imbalances in the exchange or for other
unforeseen circumstances. Program costs are
subject to change.

Fields
of study include Business, Computing and Information
Technology, Mathematical Sciences, Engineering
and Technology, Health and Human Services, Multimedia,
Social and Behavioural Science, Arts, Hospitality & Science,
Biophysical Sciences and Electrical Engineering.
Students may take no more than 4 courses per
semester. Academic

Information. In addition to the exchange,
a fee-paying program is also available.

of Placement |
Good,
but exchange spaces limited each year based on
number of in-coming students from SUT. Students
who apply to start in Spring have best chance
of placement.

| Eligibility |
GPA
of 3.0 for exchange or direct enrollment, with
junior standing by time program begins. Program
is conducted in English. Only
mature and self-directed students should consider
studying in Australia.

Latest
date by which application must be received
by Swineburne: Fall (July) March
31 and Spring (February) October
31. NMSU's
priority administrative deadline is May 1 for
Fall and October 15 for Spring, after which
late processing fees apply.

For
2008-2009: Application fee ($300),
tuition per semester ($2,379), program fee
per semester ($200), BETA insurance ($30).

to SUT |
Cost
of all program arrangements organized by SUT. Students
are housed in apartments off campus and prepare
their own meals. Costs of accommodations
paid to SUT or private contractors.

| Insurance |
Australian
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) required. Must
be prepaid in full for entiree length of program
before obtaining student visa. Sold at Aus$160/6
months. BETA
Medical Evacuation Insurance also is required
because Australian
Overseas Student Health Insurance does
not start upon departure from the U.S. and
does not cover medical evacuation and medical
costs incurred while traveling outside Australia.

| Scholarships |
Students
should apply for local, federal and privale scholarships.
Students with Pell grants should apply for Gilman awards
(up to $5,000) for study abroad.

| Withdrawal
Penalties |
Students
who have accepted the SUT placement then
withdraw will be charged $200 by
NMSU to recover its administrative expenses. Students
who accept an academic year placement may have
to pay the entire cost of the program if they
withdraw early. Other SUT penalties for
unrecoverable costs may apply for early withdrawal
after accepting placement.
