Applications to Newcastle are subject to review
and approval by the Office of Study Abroad
and an advertised program may be unavailable
due to imbalances in the exchange or for other
unforeseen circumstances. Program costs are
subject to change.

NMSU
has an agreement to accommodate two student
on exchange at The
University of Newcastle near Sydney in any
compatible filed of study. Australia requires
a student visa.

for students with 3.0 g.p.a. but limited to two
students per year. |

GPA
3.0 with junior standing by time of exchange. Prefer
student to study for full academic year. |

tuition per semester ($2,379), program fee
per semester ($200).

| Insurance |
Since
Australian Insurance required, only BETA medical
evacuation insurance required by NMSU. The OSHC
(Overseas Health Cover) for incoming exchange
students has increased for 2009.
The new premiums are as follows:1 semester: AU$190
• 1 year: AU$380 |
| Scholarships |
Students
should apply for local, federal and privale scholarships.
Students with Pell grants should apply for Gilman awards
(up to $5,000) for study abroad.

| Withdrawal
Penalties |
Students
who have accepted the Newcastle placement
then withdraw will be charged $200 by
NMSU to recover its administrative expenses. Students
who accept an academic year placement may have
to pay the entire cost of the program if they
withdraw early. Other Newcastle penalties
for unrecoverable costs may apply for early withdrawal
after accepting placement.
