ISEP (INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM) WEB LINK
The following information is provided as a guide. Applications to ISEP are subject to review and approval by the Office of Study Abroad and an advertised program may be unavailable due to imbalances in the exchange or for other unforeseen circumstances. Program costs are subject to change.

Exchanges in universities in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, *Canada, Chile, *China, Costa Rica, *Czech Republic, *Denmark, *Estonia, *Fiji, *Finland, France, Germany, *Ghana, *Hungary, *Iceland, Italy, *Japan, *Korea, *Latvia, *Malta, Mexico, *Netherlands, Nicaragua, *Norway, *Poland, *South Africa, Spain, *Sweden, Switzerland, *Thailand, *UK, and Uruguay.
Programs in English (marked with * ) Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, Japanese, and Chinese. Most fields of study available. Students pay NMSU tuition and fees, housing, and meal plan costs and receive a comparable benefit from the host university abroad.
Chances of Placement
Excellent for students applying by priority deadlines. Limited openings in Chile, Costa Rica, Ghana, South Africa, Spain, and the UK (but may be available under ISEP-Direct).
Eligibility
Minimum GPA of 2.75 with sophomore standing by time of exchange for undergraduates, and 3.0 for graduates. Some institutions may have a 3.0 GPA and junior standing requirement. Students must meet language requirement if English courses not available or they must be willing to study language intensively.
Application Deadlines
Priority deadlines for Fall start is February 1 (due in Study Abroad Office by January 28), for Spring start is September 1 (due in Study Abroad Office by August 28), for most summer programs May 1 (due in Study Abroad Office by April 27). Applications for Chukyo due by October 27. Applications for summer due by May 1. Late applications will be considered as long as space in a program is open and time is available to process the application. NMSU's priority administrative deadline is May 1 for Fall and Summer and October 15 for Spring, after which late processing fees apply.
Paid to NMSU
For 2008-2009: Tuition per semester ($2379), program fee per semester ($250), housing based on apartment options ($1,625), meal plan including cafeteria closing allowance ($1,600).
Paid to ISEP
$315 application fee paid to ISEP (due at time of application) as well as $53 per month insurance fee required (sometimes host country requires its insurance policy in lieu of ISEP's insurance, such as in Australia, New Zealand, and Germany).
Insurance
ISEP insurance (or host country insurance) is required. NMSU BETA is required to provided medical evacuation only when host country insurance is selected.
Scholarships
ISEP offers Annette Kade Scholarships for study in France and Germany and STA Travel Scholarships. Students should also apply for local, federal and privale scholarships.
Withdrawal Penalties 
Students who have applied to ISEP and then withdraw will be charged $100 by NMSU to recover its administrative costs. Students who have accepted their placement then withdraw will be charged $200 by NMSU to recover its administrative expenses. Before agreeing to accept an ISEP placement, students must check with ISEP for current charges for the program and obtain the Institutional Information Sheet which describes the benefits covered by these payments. Students who accept an academic year placement may have to pay the entire cost of the program if they withdraw early. Other ISEP penalties for unrecoverable costs may apply for early withdrawal after accepting placement.
