following information is provided as a guide.
Applications to CONAHEC are submitted on line,
but are subject to review and approval by the
Office of Study Abroad and an advertised program
may be unavailable due to imbalances in the
exchange or for other unforeseen circumstances.
Program costs are subject to change.

| Options |
Most
fileds of study may be pursued through CONAHEC.
Undergraduate and graduate students pay tuition
to their home institution (NMSU) while studying
tuition-free at a host institution. NMSU students
fill out the CONAHEC application
form and submit it to the Office
of Study Abroad. The host institution, upon agreeing
to consider the student, will have the student
fill out their application form. For assistance,
contact the Office of Study Abroad

| Eligibility |
Each
CONAHEC member institution in Canada and Mexico
has established their own criteria for student
exchange standards. As a general rule, NMSU students
applying for an exchange need a minimum g.p.a
of 2.5 and have completed two full-time semesters
of study. Spanish language skills required for
Mexico and English or French required for Canada.

2008-2009: Application fee ($300),
tuition per semester ($2,379), program fee
per semester ($200), HTH insurance fee ($38
per month).

| Scholarships |
Students
with Pell Grants can apply for Gilman Scholarships.
All students can apply for Colin Williamson and
Mesilla Valley scholarships.
Under limited conditions for Mexico, students
may also apply for IFSA scholarships.

| Withdrawal
Penalties |
Students
who have accepted the CONAHEC placement
then withdraw will be charged $200 by
NMSU to recover its administrative expenses. Students
who accept an academic year placement may have
to pay the entire cost of the program if they
withdraw early. Other penalties for unrecoverable
costs may apply for early withdrawal after accepting
placement.
