NO CREDIT STATUS DEFINED
No Credit Status is defined as NMSU organized or supervised travel outside the U.S. that occurs while a student is enrolled at, affiliated with, or funded by NMSU. These are almost exclusively faculty organized or supervised trips that are optional and not required to earn credit for a course or to complete thesis or dissertation research. This type of travel abroad may include both degree and non-degree seeking students, or guests of the university accompanying the group.
Student Policy-No Credit travel status activities:
Students not earning credit but who are traveling outside the U.S., even on day trips to Mexico, in an activity organized, supervised, or funded by NMSU are required to follow the NMSU Study Abroad Travel Policy. The policy requires them to obtain travel insurance to cover the time abroad (including day trips to Mexico), to complete health and safety orientation (as organized by the travel coordinator) and to fill out the participant section of the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement–Resident Student Travel Programs form.
Employee Policy:
Employees organizing or supervising optional student travel (including travel to professional conferences funded by NMSU) are required to inform the University that currently enrolled NMSU students will be traveling abroad short term or long term by filling out the Notification Section of the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement–Resident Student Travel Programs form and making sure each students fills out and signs the participant section. They should read the Employee Travel Guide and use the extensive information available on the study abroad web site to orient students to travel outside the U.S.
