| PLACEMENT
REVIEW & FINALIZATION |
| NMSU
students who have been accepted into a study
abroad program need to follow these steps. |
| Step
1 |
Review the
conditions of acceptance of the
program for which you have been placed
before you confirm your acceptance. If
you don’t understand various items,
ask questions until you are satisfied
with the answers. If you accept placement
and then later withdraw, you may be liable
for payment of withdrawal
penalties plus any unrecoverable costs
incurred by NMSU or the host study abroad
institution.
|
| Step
2 |
Complete the
paperwork required by NMSU to
finalize university approval of status
as a study abroad student. All students
will fill out the NMSU Study Abroad
Agreement–Transfer Credit Programs or NMSU
Study Abroad Agreement–International
Distance Education. Students enrolled
in Intensive Language Programs also need
to fill out the Department of Languages
and Linguistics Language Transfer
Credit Agreement only if studying
in a transfer credit option. If transfer
credits will be part of your last thirty
hours before graduation, obtain a waiver request
through your dean. Students studying long-term
on a travel program while enrolled in a
course or courses at NMSU will fill out
the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement–Resident
Student Travel Program.
|
| Step
3 |
Pay
any deposits or other fees required in
advance by the host institution
prior to departing for study abroad program.
Students accepted in direct enrollment
programs pay the costs of the programs
directly to the sponsoring institution
according to their instructions and deadlines.
The university will only bill students’ university
accounts for university program fees and
contracted costs of tuition, room and board
when students are enrolling in an exchange
program.
