APPLICATIONS & APPROVALS
APPLYING TO A PROGRAM
There is no single application form used by NMSU for study abroad.
Instead, students apply to the specific program for which they want to be admitted.
The Office of Study Abroad maintains applications for approved programs. Some of these applications may also be accessed on line. The Office will assist in filling out and forwarding the application.
All university based programs require submission of the most recent official transcript from all colleges and universities attended and academic reference forms. In most cases the Office has to endorse the applications before forwarding them to the program sponsor.
Students enrolling in one of the Intensive Language Programs need to consult with the Foreign Studies Advisor in the Department of Languages and Linguistics before applying to the specific program. The Advisor will determine what credit may be earned by study the language intensively.
Students wanting to enroll in a faculty led program will obtain application instructions from the faculty member.
OBTAINING FINAL APPROVAL FOR CREDIT
Students enrolling in Transfer Credit programs, such as most exchanges, need to obtain final approval from their college to transfer in credit. They will fill out the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement-Transfer Credit Program.
Students enrolling in NMSU graded distance education credit will complete the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement-International Distance Education, which requires only the instructor's signature for course approval.
Students traveling abroad as part of a regular NMSU course will fill out the participant section of the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement-Resident Student Travel Programs form.
Guest NMIEC students enrolling in one of NMSU's programs need to fill out the participant section of the NMSU Study Abroad Agreement-Guest Student form which has to be signed by their study abroad advisor in their home institution.
