STUDY ABROAD STUDENT SUPPORT CLUBS AND PROGRAMS NMSU Rotaract Club affiliated with Rotary International, is composed of NMSU students ages 18-30 who want to make a difference to grow personally and professionally, address community needs, and promote international understanding through friendship and services. The Rotaract club holds meetings, usually every two weeks, which feature speakers, discussions, and visits to other clubs. Members get together for service projects, social activities, and leadership workshops. They may also participate in international meetings of Rotary. An important goal of the NMSU Rotaract Club is to bring U.S. and international students together to socialize and to work on both local and international service projects. Students planning to study abroad, or who have studied abroad, who would like to keep involved with international students and to contribute service locally and internationally are invited to join the club. NMSU Study Abroad Ambassadors Club is composed of NMSU students, including many who have studied abroad, who want to help incoming exchange students adjust to the transition from their home to Las Cruces, to build international friendships and connections, to plan fun activities for students such as trips, to raises awareness of various international programs and opportunities available to NMSU students, and to assist the Office of Study Abroad with Fairs and orientations and other activities. The World Student Alliance is a group of likeminded individuals who want to organize and connect students who see the benefit of international experiences. They will work to increase program funding for undergraduate international learning experiences. They also are linking with students at other universities in New Mexico who want to increase international program connections. Global Village is a Living Learning Community located in Vista Del Monte apartments that brings together exchange students and U.S. students to create a dynamic living environments for students who want to share similar international interests and to benefit from living in a richly diverse community on campus. The Peer Advisor sponsored by the Office of Study Abroad organizes a variety of activities each semester to bring students together in internationally enriching ways. Student Volunteers: Students who have returned from studying abroad, and current incoming exchange students, are invited to volunteer in the Office of Study Abroad to assist the office to greet students inquiring about study abroad, to make appointments for staff, and to help in other ways to reduce the administrative load placed on the office. Students are not paid, but the Office will recognize them in various ways for their greatly appreciated efforts to support study abroad.
