ELIGIBILITY:
Sometimes students are unable to find an NMSU study abroad program in the country of their choice, or in the institution of their choice. In these cases, students may choose programs from approved AFFILIATED (DIRECT) UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS, or they may find programs on their own and seek NMSU approval for credit recognition. Sometimes NMSU partners with other universities provide fee paid non-exchange options. These are programs to which students pay the cost directly to them, not to NMSU. These programs tend to be more expensive than exchange programs, but some are quite reasonable in cost.

APPLICATION DEADLINES
Applications should be submitted for Fall semester enrollment by January 31 (for priority consideration) or by March 15 for regular consideration; for Spring semester enrollment by August 31 (for priority consideration) or by October 1 for regular consideration. Some programs have special deadlines and applications will be considered at later dates to accommodate those programs.

PROGRAM COSTS:
Students will pay NMSU an application processing fee and, for Fall of Spring semester enrollments, an administrative fee. Students will pay the host program tuition, health insurance for each month of enrollment (paid to NMSU if not included in fees paid to host), housing, and meals. Students will pay out-of-pocket for a passport, visa fees (when required), immunizations (when required), travel to location of program (sometimes this is included in the payment to the host program), and incidental expenses.  The Office will help you budget for the program to which you decide to apply. Limited scholarships provided by some affiliated programs may be available.
