REGISTRATION & TRANSFER CREDIT PROCESSING: NMSU Registration. All NMSU students studying abroad will be registered by the Office of Study Abroad in a OISE Course (for outbound student transfer credit programs), in a special distance education course ( intensive language programs and student teaching), or by a course instructor in a regular NMSU course. Students enrolling in exchanges and other university based programs will also register for specific classes at the host institution. Registration & Release of Transcript Holds. A hold will be placed on future registration at NMSU, or on the release of transcripts, should a student fail to settle agreed upon financial obligations to NMSU and/or to a host institution. Students may not carry over debt into the next semester, so all previous semester balances must be paid in full in order for the Offie of Study Abroad to enroll students. Students studying for the academic year must be certain that the first semester's charges have been paid in full or they cannot be enrolled for the second semester, which may result in denial of financial aid. Submission of Transcripts. The Office of Study Abroad receives all foreign (or U.S. university issued) transcripts for study abroad and arranges for the documents to be disbursed to colleges, departments, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of the Registrar. The official document is deposited with the Registrar, and only certified copies are forwarded elsewhere. For undergraduates, the Associate Dean of their college (or a designate) approves all transfer credit. For graduates, the student's department and the Associate Dean of the Graduate School (or a designate) approve all transfer credit. NMSU equivalent courses will be listed on the NMSU tanscript. |
