How
does NMSU provide study abroad orientation to
DEIL students |
First,
every student is required to read the Safe
Travel section of the Study Abroad
Website. Second, they are required to review returned
students' evaluations, especially
those related to language study, academic study,health
and safety, travel, and cultural adjustment.
Students will
also be
provided a Culturegram for their country of study
which will provide basic background information
and a safety video.

Is
orientation part of the language course evaluations
and grading? |
Yes. The
instructor will be notified that the student
has completed the study abroad orientation and
has full access to the quizzes for review. It
is critical that students understand the risks
of
study abroad,
how to learn a new language effectively, and
how to adjust to the new culture which impacts
the learning of a new language.
