COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
Which students must attend a debriefing sessionand fill out a program evaluation form after returning?
If returning from a transfer credit program, the Assistant Dean for Study Abroad will debrief the student. At this meeting, students will be advised about the transfer credit process, learn the status of receipt of their foreign transcript, and have the opportunity to share insights into the educational program they attended. At this time they will also fill out the Academic Study Program Evaluation.
If returning from a graded credit program, there is no required debriefing, but students must complete the Intensive Language Study, Academic Study, Academic Study-Travel Course, or Internship/Student Teaching Evaluation Form. Some students returning from language programs may like to meet personally with the Foreign Studies Advisor in the Deparment of Languages and Linguistics to share insight into the program or to review what would be required to minor or major in the language studied.
Why do students returning from studying abroad have to fill out a final program evaluation form?
All students returning from study abroad programs for transfer or graded credit (except for some short-term group travel activities) are required to fill out the NMSU Final Evaluation Form before transfer credit will be processed or grades for course credit will be issued. The information from these evaluations is used to provide prospective students with in-depth information on program sites, travel, health and safety, cultural adjustment, and academic and language study.
