• An
amazing "little big" city; clean, not
intimidating, tones of activities.

• Liked
Paris and staff was nice
• Found
courses uninspiring and materials outdated. |
D'ANGERS
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• I
would recommend Angers on the quality of the
courses, the professors, the weather, the food,
the scenery, and culture.
• Be
prepared to be self sufficient.
|
CAEN
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• Caen
is better for beginning French students, those
who have taken 11-112 and are not confident with
their level of French.
• I
would recommend the experience but would probably
choose a different university.
|
FRANCHE-COMTE
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• Great
experience, but don't enroll in the University,
enroll in the CLA.
|
GRENOBLE
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• Good
place to learn French.
|
HAVRE
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• I
would recommend Havre because it doesn't have
many anglophone exchange students, and it is
beautiful. Normandy has a lot to offer for history
and culture.

INSTITUTE
|
• I
learned a lot about 'everyday' living, experiences,
and nuances that are diffiicult to learn unless
you are in France.• It was a wonderful
experience and I learned a great deal. • Gives
you verbal practice.
• Some
of the instructors are pretty grumpy and moody. • ...not
air conditioned, so it can get pretty miserable
in the afternoons. • ... had a slightly
standoffish host family. Families that are
more involved and interested in students make
better hosts. • Sometimes they were a
bit unorganized.

MAINE
(Le Mans)
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• Although
France was not as idyllic as I had expected,
its faults ended up being part of its charm.
Being in the center of Western Europe facilitated
knowing about European cultures, in addition
to France.

LYON
3
|
EXCHANGE
|
• Go
to International Office (Tessa Adrian) for help. • Would
recommend it to everybody. • ... great
for the language exposure and Lyon is a great
city with many things to do, and not as expensive
as Paris , nor as dirty as Marsailles. • Overall
experience was excellent. • Good for learning
Franch. • Teachers were helpful. • Lyon
an amazing town with lots to do. Summer Program:
Learning close to classical teaching with 3 students
for most classes; a place NMSU students should
considered. •Awesome trip, made good friends,
enjoyed learning the European way of life.
• Difficult
to get information and help administratively. • Disliked
the way professors managed and taught classes,
strikes upset the routine,some anti-Americanism,
apartments in area inadequate. • Academic
program not as satisfactory. • Had trouble
finding classes to take. • Need to stay
a year to adjust to a frustrating school system. • For
summer program, need beter communication between
NMSU and Lyon on accommodations.

MICEFA
(Paris)
|
EXCHANGE
|
• Paris
is a great city with lots to do 24/7.
• MICEFA
not really there to help. I had to register and
get grades myself. |
NICE
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• Nice
is amazing and once you begin to understand the
vast differences, you have nothing except pleasure
ahead of you. |
RENNES
2
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• Yes,
but don't go there expecting a great education,
go there to improve your French and learn about
French culture.
• France
has a tendency to have strikes, which can disrupt
your classes. |
SAINT-ETIENNE
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• I
recommend because it is a smaller city, can meet
a lot of students, and every day you interact with
international students. |
SAVOIE
|
EXCHANGE-ISEP
|
• I
would recommend this if you are ready to integrate
fully so you can learn French.
• Expensive
(summer) and difficult teaching styles.
