Location (" great," " safe," "beautiful"): • Monteverde is great, and teachers are wonderful, lot to do. • Heredia and Monteverde were the best campuses to go to for the education. • Monteverde Costa Rica is a great place with wonderful, friendly people, an interesting culture, and lots of ecological conservation and bio diversity.• The location is very tranquil and peaceful. I felt welcome the first day I arrived. • ...excellent seafood, beautiful weather. • I felt extremely safe my entire stay-whether I was traveling or walking around at night, whether I was in the city or the country. Host families "great,": • The host family was incredibly hospitable. Culture and people ("fascinating," "nice," "helpful," "fun loving," "gentle," "friendly"): • The culture was fascinating.• Ticos are fabulous people.... • The people in Costa Rica are the nicest you will ever run into. • Costa Ricans are very accommodating and patient, even townspeople not associated with the school." " The people in Costa Rica were very nice and polite. • The people are nice, friendly, and fun loving. They talk to complete strangers as if they have known them forever. They love to talk and they love music and dancing.• ... treated Americans with respect. Learning experience ("immersion," "exceeded expectations," "great"): • ... the actual learning experience exceeded any class (Span 11-112-211-etc) at NMSU. • ...total immersion forces you to learn.... • I learned more spanish than I thought was possible. I came back close to fluent. Administration and Academics ("Organized," "friendly," "helpful," ): • The service and classes provided are great. I was treated like a family member and every thing was just great. • The organization was impeccable.... • ...the school is set up very well and they basically cater to all the students’ needs. • The teachers, staff, and host families were extremely friendly. • ...the instruction was great and the staff was extremely helpful. • It was a great school, good staff and program. • The teachers and staff in Heredia were incredible. The teaching methods were very effective. • I enjoyed the interchanging of teachers and the various teaching methods. Activities ("lots to do," "rain forest," "beach"): • ...there is a lot of stuff to do from going to the movies, discos, or outdoors. Cost: • Cheap.... Other: • I want to go back. Went 3 months and I learned a lot of Spanish. • NMSU was very helpful and organized and CPI was extremely professional.

Cost ("expensive"): • If money is not a big deal go to CPI-Costa Rica, however, if it is I would recommend Mexico instead. • ...it is fairly expensive and CPI is always trying to get your American dollar any way they can. Environment for learning Spanish ("Too much English spoken"): • It is almost impossible to avoid speaking English outside of class. • Not for advanced speakers. Methodology: • ... wish they taught more conversation and less writing. • If misplaced in level on test, may be hard to move to another level. Need to be less rigid on this. Locations: • Monteverde doesn't have paved roads and the weather is cooler. • Be aware you are in a developing country and will have to do without. Flamingo not as good as Heredia and Monteverde. Organization: Felt it was disorganized, bus reservations messed up. • Heredia better organized than Monte Verde and Flamingo. Teachers: All were fantastic, except one was rude my last week. Weather: Rainy season can be difficult because of the constant rain.

• I would recommend Costa Rica to anyone. It was a blast and I improved my Spanish in leaps and bounds. I’ve studied in Spain too, but I loved Costa Rica and prefer it to Spain hands down.
