|
| Registration & Scheduling |
• Registration
system may not be computerized. • Don't expect
level of advising and support you are used
to in the U.S. •
List classes may be cancelled at the last minute.
The Registration system can be confusing
and scheduling
of classes complicated. • Some courses may be academic
year only, so best to start classes at beginning
of host institutions academic year (remember
Southern
Hemisphere starts in February, ends in December). |

Organization, Methods, & Evaluations |
| • Lots
of essays and projects. • Instructional
methods quite different with more independent
learning expected. • Work
load may be heavier than expected. • Grading
more severe and difficult to understand criteria, plus
often based on one exam. • Expect to have to be independent
and self-study. |
| Language
Issues |
• Learn
the local slang and the vocabulary related
to courses, registration, university policy.
• Even
if taking classes primarily in English most
instructions and many signs will be in the
local language. |

guidance, assistance, and availability compared
with NMSU. |

|
|

may be monitored strictly. |
Study
